There are also many programs that cater especially to English speakers. Requirements for English Programs at Italian Medical Schools

Now that you know how much it costs, you’re probably wondering what’s required to get into these schools. The requirements include taking the IMAT (the International Medical Admission Test) in English. The score needed on this test varies from school to school. The International Medical School wants its applicants to score at least 40.50, Pavia wants 38.75, and Sapienza requires 36.50. The schools also require you to have done some prerequisites as an undergrad. These include mathematics, chemistry, physics, and biology. If you have high grades in these classes and a good IMAT score, you will be a high contender for getting into one of the Italian medical schools. If your test scores and grades are high you might even be eligible for some scholarships, which would make the Italian schools even more affordable for you.

Italian Medical Schools that offer English Courses

One great Italian medical school that teaches exclusively in English is the International Medical School in Milan. You can here study medicine in Italy at the highest level in a language convenient for you.

This is a school offering a six year course that is based in the teaching hospital Istituto Clinico Humanitas. The program offers specializations in medicine and surgery, and students work with world-class doctors to treat patients. The tuition for this great Italian medical school is paid in two instalments throughout the year. These vary based on the financial circumstances of the student. The highest price you could pay is 3,245 Euros per instalment, but depending on your circumstances you could pay as little as 88 Euros. There are also some other fees that must be paid, such as a 199 Euro enrollment fee and a 75 Euro fee for administration and general costs.

If you’re interested in going to study medicine in Italy in English in a city other than Milan, there are plenty of options. One of these options is Sapienza –Universita di Roma in Rome. This is another six year medical degree that’s taught entirely in English. Sapienza was started 700 years ago by Pope Boniface VII, and the school still uses many of his founding principles to guide its students. The program strives to develop its students’ clinical skills and to train them in specialized fields. The university is based in Rome, a city that many people dream of visiting. There’s no better view to look at when you’re taking a break from studying than the Pantheon or the Trevi Fountain. The total cost per year for this program is 2,647 Euro with a 140 Euro regional fee.  Sapienza also offers scholarships based on merit and financial need.

Another option for an English medical course in a much smaller city is the English medical course at the University of Pavia. Their “Harvey Course” is based on five hundred years of experience teaching medicine. The professors are all highly trained scientists and physicians, and the study material is the same used in the highest ranked schools in the US and the UK. The price per year for this school ranges between 483-4110 Euro depending on your financial circumstances.

There are lots of good reasons for choosing to continue your medical training in Italy. The schools have world class reputations at affordable prices. The prices extremely low compared to schools in the United States and many other parts of the world. As long as you meet the requirements there is really no reason not to try applying to some English programs in Italy.
